We mentioned earlier in the year that we would have some announcements to make over Summer so here they are...

Since launch 3 years ago we have been in several meetings in an attempt to try and utilise advanced diagnostic imaging modalities to help provide the best possible care for our patients.

It has taken some time but the hard work has now paid off as we are now able to perform CT (computed tomography) scans of patients in need of the service.

Until now this is a service that all pets have had to leave the island to visit specialist facilities on the mainland, thereby causing additional expense of travel, lost time as days have to be taken off work and of course extra stress for cats and dogs. In synch with our ethos to reduce stress to our patients and provide the best possible care we are now able to perform CT scans.

Having a mobile surgery puts us in a unique position to be able to safely transport patients from your doorstep or our surgery to a CT scanner. From here we can sedate patients and scan them plus utilise intravenous contrast agent to aid diagnostics. On completion of the scan, patients sedation is reversed and they can be transported directly back to your home or our surgery for collection. Your pet can be back in your arms within a matter of hours and the results follow shortly after interpretation by veterinary experts in diagnostic imaging.

Below are some images of scans we have performed showing intricate detail of abdominal & thoracic contents to aid diagnosis of various conditions to include those outlined in the table below.

The Mobile Vet team and I are so excited to offer this new service and are ecstatic that the hard work and endless meetings and paperwork have resulted in a great outcome for our clients and patients.
