Who we are
Dr Dan Forster BVSc (Hons) GPCert (SAM),(SAP),(B&PS) MRCVS
Dan is an IOW local having grown up in Wootton Bridge and attending school at Ryde High School. On finishing his A-levels, he attended Bristol Vet School and after graduating in 2005 he joined a mixed practice in Wiltshire, where he worked for a few years before returning to the Island with his wife Kirsty (who just happens to be a veterinary nurse!)
After working in a few practices on the Island as a small animal vet, Dan continued to feel that there was something missing. Particularly after his daughter Lyra was born in November, he yearned for a work:life balance that meant he could spend more time with his family but still provide a caring professional service to island residents' pets. The idea to provide a mobile veterinary surgery with his wife was born and after much hard work has developed in to what you see today...
"The concept of a mobile vet that provides ALL the services a traditional vet does is brand new to the UK. There are several vets that drive around providing basic in house services, but the Mobile Vet is something else entirely. The idea certainly seems to be a great way to encompass convenience with a traditional twist whilst maintaining the highest veterinary standards with state of the art equipment contained within a mobile unit! A lot of independant veterinary practices are being purchased by corporate giants and the personal one to one care is slipping by the way. Some establishments have lost touch with what being a vet is really about – CARING for the animals. Although modern day practice is a far cry from the days of James Herriot pottering around the english countryside; with todays technology it is now possible to provide a mobile veterinary service - so why not?"
Dan is passionate about providing island residents with a professional, affordable and personalised service brought right to your door.
Kirsty Forster RVN C&GCert(Exotic) MBVNA
Kirsty is a professionally qualified Veterinary Nurse with 13 years experience. She has always strived to provide excellent care for all animals whether under anaesthesia or in hospital, she loves the personal touch and providing the TLC that’s required. Kirsty has obtained additional qualifications to better herself and is registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) meaning that you can stay content that your pets are under the very best of care when in her hands.
Dan has truly settled back in to Island life and is glad to have brought his wife back to the beautiful island where they are now enjoying raising a family. When time allows it they may be seen entering their home grown produce in to the local shows (their ducks lay award winning eggs!), cycling through woodland and walking on the beaches around the island/exploring the beautiful island countryside.
